DEPTFORD TWP. — Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Deputy Director Giuseppe ‘Joe’ Chila announced Wednesday that Gloucester County is hosting a Job Fair for Veterans on Friday, May 1 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the gymnasium at Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC).

Damminger said that there were already 43 employers who are hiring participating at the job fair and more are expected.

Damminger said, “Hiring a hero is one of the best ways an employer can give back to those who served our country and hosting this job fair is a way the County can focus on assisting our veterans get a job in an organized setting.”

Chila, liaison to Veteran’s Affairs, said, “Those who served in our military have many talents and skills that can translate into the private sector and it is our duty to help our veterans find great opportunities.

“We offer many tools to help prepare our Veterans for this Job Fair and for searching for employment including free workshops that can help teach the ins and outs of finding a job, including social media, effective resumes and interviewing techniques,” said Chila.

Freeholder Heather Simmons, liaison to Economic Development, said, “The county’s Workforce Investment Board has held two job fairs this year resulting in 50 applicants hired. This means our county businesses are growing and putting more people back to work which impacts our local economy.”

Simmons said, “There will be additional staff on site to assist job seekers to make sure they get the most out of the experience,” said Simmons.  “Job seekers should be dressed and ready to interview and bring copies of their resume.”

Parking is free and RCGC is located at 1400 Tanyard Road, Deptford.
